Accessibility Statement

WCAG 2.1 Level AA · Section 508 · ADA · VPAT 2.4 summary

Last updated: May 29, 2026

Our Commitment

Evrica Technologies Inc. is committed to ensuring that the Oscar application is accessible to every learner, including those who use assistive technologies. We design, build, and continuously test Oscar against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II and III.

Conformance Status

Oscar conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA across its core student-facing interfaces. Conformance is verified through automated scanning (aXe, WAVE, Lighthouse) on every release, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), and a third-party audit conducted annually.

Features Supporting Accessibility

  • Keyboard navigation: All functionality is operable through a keyboard interface, including the chat composer, mood check-in, file upload, and settings.
  • Screen reader support: Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and live-region announcements for new Oscar messages.
  • Voice input and output: Optional voice mode for students who prefer or require auditory interaction.
  • Captions and transcripts: Any audio Oscar produces is paired with a synchronized text transcript.
  • Color contrast: Minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text and 3:1 for large text and meaningful UI elements.
  • Focus indicators: Visible focus rings on every interactive element.
  • Reduced motion: Honors the prefers-reduced-motion media query for users sensitive to motion.
  • Responsive design: Functions at viewports as narrow as 320px and zoom levels up to 400% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Plain-language UI: Reading level of UI copy targets grade 4–6, with no slang or jargon.
  • Bilingual scaffolding: Built-in support for English Language Learners with home-language bridging.
